From Transformers to Avatar: The Last Airbender, the game has featured various crossovers with popular franchises. Season 18 of <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/esports-titles\/shooters\/overwatch\">Overwatch 2<\/a> was recently released, and in the trailer for the new season, the next crossover\u2013a collaboration with Atlus\u2019s JRPG Persona 5\u2013was teased.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041e8e73\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Persona 5 is an incredibly popular game, so it\u2019s no surprise that there is anticipation for the Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 crossover. With this in mind, let\u2019s dive into everything we know so far about the Overwatch 2 Persona 5 collab.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-heading-68cad041e94ae\" class=\"esi-heading \">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"expected_overwatch_2_persona_5_release_date-2\">Expected Overwatch 2 Persona 5 release date<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041e9b1e\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f2f2\">TBC, but mid-season 18 seems likely ~ end of September<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041ea17d\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>At the time of writing, August 28 2025, there has been no official release date for the Persona 5 x Overwatch 2 crossover. This isn\u2019t that surprising, as most of the other collaborations were also announced via a teaser and then given a release date later in the season. Some of the collabs were released soon after the season began, such as the My Hero Academia crossover from season 7. This collab was released on October 17, 2024, which was just a week after the season dropped on October 10, 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041ea7f1\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>However, most of the collabs tend to drop mid-season, around a month after the season starts. Since there has been no other information released as of yet, it seems likely that the Overwatch 2 and Persona 5 collaboration will be a mid-season content release.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-heading-68cad041eaeb9\" class=\"esi-heading \">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"overwatch_2_x_persona_5_details-2\">Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 details<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041eb4c9\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f2f2\">TBC, but specific cosmetics and challenges are expected<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041ebb21\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>No official details have been released at the time of writing. There also haven\u2019t been any Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 leaks, but it\u2019s safe to assume that the collab will be similar to the other crossovers featured in Overwatch 2 so far. It will likely include Legendary skins with specific effects related to the Persona 5 characters. The collaboration is also likely to include other cosmetics, such as sprays, player icons and emotes. There will probably be specific challenges that offer free cosmetics, such as player titles and weapon charms, to players who complete them.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041ec14e\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Blizzard has come under fire with some of their collaborations for not including enough skins, instead focusing on minor cosmetics, but still charging a fair amount of money. Here\u2019s hoping that the Overwatch 2 Persona 5 cosmetics include plenty of skins, as there are various characters with iconic costumes in the games that would make for awesome Overwatch 2 skins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-heading-68cad041ec761\" class=\"esi-heading \">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"overwatch_2_persona_5_skins_and_cosmetics_speculation-2\">Overwatch 2 Persona 5 skins and cosmetics speculation<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041ecdd5\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>There have been no confirmations regarding which Overwatch 2 heroes will get skins in the upcoming collaboration. That doesn\u2019t mean that we can\u2019t speculate a little, though. The small teaser clip shows a quick glimpse of the skin\u2019s silhouette, but it gives little away. However, there are a few clues about who will get the main character.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041ee1b4\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Each Overwatch 2 hero has a distinctive shape that makes them stand out on the battlefield, and the character receiving the Joker skin is someone who has a long flowing element to their silhouette to represent his trenchcoat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041ee7ce\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>There are a few heroes that either have that design element in their base skin or have skins that implement that feature. Cassidy is a likely choice, as he has a few skins with long trench coats. He also uses a revolver, which would fit well with Joker\u2019s handguns. Soldier: 76 is also an option, as he too has a skin with a long coat (Strike Commander Morrison), and it would be great to have a new skin that shows him when he was younger.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041eee24\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Another option could be <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/best-overwatch-2-kiriko-skins\">Kiriko<\/a>, which is possible as Blizzard has gender swapped with their crossover skins before, such as Tracer\u2019s Deku skin in the My Hero Academia crossover. Kiriko seems like an apt choice due to her similarities to Joker. Not only is she the leader of a group of rebellious youths, but she is also Japanese, wields kunai that could reflect Joker\u2019s daggers, and has the flowing costume parts. He also has a similar look, with spiky blonde hair, brown eyes and a tall, lanky frame. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/overwatch-2-wuyang-support-hero-deep-dive\">Wuyang<\/a> could also make for an excellent Ryuji, which is apparent with his summer skin that gives him a similar, spiky blonde hairdo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041f01ee\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Ryuji uses shotguns and bludgeoning weapons, which don\u2019t really suit Wuyang or Junkrat\u2019s skill kits (though Junkrat\u2019s weapons could be altered to look similar to Ryuji\u2019s more easily than Wuyang\u2019s). Reaper could be a good choice in this respect, as well as with his silhouette, which could accommodate Ryuji\u2019s long coat. Widowmaker is pretty perfect in terms of Ann\u2019s design, as they have similar body types and both wear catsuits. Widowmaker also has a grapple that could easily be transformed into the whip that Ann uses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041f15ca\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/best-overwatch-2-mercy-skins\">Mercy<\/a> is also a great choice. She is more similar to Ann in terms of appearance, having donned blonde pigtails before with her Pink skin. Both use a samurai sword as their primary weapon, and both have connections to a spirit animal of sorts (Yusuke\u2019s is a fox while Genji\u2019s is a dragon).\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041f29de\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Kiriko could also have a Yusuke skin, though this would only be because of the matching fox themes. Their personalities are similar, and Symmetra\u2019s design lends itself well to a leather, biker-like outfit, as shown with her Junker skin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad041f3d6f\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>However, when it comes to a hero whose design is almost a perfect match for Makoto, <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/best-overwatch-2-tracer-skins\">Tracer is the top pick<\/a>. She has short hair, skins that include a flowing scarf and even has a highlight intro that includes a motorcycle. Design-wise, she is the best choice, but Symmetra nails the personality elements. Sombra is the obvious pick for a Futaba skin because of this. However, D.Va could also work for a Futaba skin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad04200e34\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>D.Va wears a similar body suit to Futaba, and the two characters are both gamers (though Sombra seems to be a bit of a gamer, too). Both are bubbly, sweet young women who are a little naive, but also incredibly dedicated to those they care about.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad04202203\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Juno has been involved in so many of the Overwatch 2 collaborations (as has Kiriko), so it seems a little unfair that she gets another skin. That being said, Juno and Haru are such a perfect match that it would feel odd if another hero got a Haru skin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-heading-68cad0420287b\" class=\"esi-heading \">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"goro_akechi_crow_lifeweaver-2\">Goro Akechi \/ Crow: Lifeweaver<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"960\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"A digitally illustrated character with silver hair holding a pink rose is on the left. Lifeweaver is arguably the most charming Overwatch hero to date, and while his charm feels a lot more authentic than Akechi\u2019s, he still feels like he would be the right choice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68cad04203564\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Baptiste could also work, as he too is a charmer, and his Biotic Launcher could work well as Akechi\u2019s laser gun.
