How to unlock the Overwatch 2 Season 18 battle pass rewards

Players can progress through the battle pass by playing games and completing challenges. Finishing challenges tends to offer more battle pass experience points, so this is the quickest way to start making your way through the pass and collecting the rewards. There are seven challenge categories in Overwatch 2, which are as follows:

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Event (specific to in-game events)
  • Lifetime
  • Hero
  • Stadium
  • Competitive

Each category has different challenges to complete, which earn additional experience points in the battle pass or other rewards, such as in-game currency or loot boxes.

However, casual players can also progress through the battle pass by simply jumping into a game, as playing will earn some experience. It might take longer to get through the pass if you don’t focus on completing challenges, but some challenges are relatively universal, so it’s hard to miss them even if you are playing casually.

Is the Overwatch 2 Season 18 battle pass worth it?

There are definitely some cool cosmetics and skins up for grabs in the Overwatch 2 Season 18 battle pass, but whether they hold up against rewards from previous seasons is a matter of personal opinion and preference.

The themes of Season 18 might not interest you as much as other seasons, or the cosmetics could be for heroes you don’t play as. If this is the case, you probably won’t be as interested in what the Season 18 battle pass offers. However, those who do play as the heroes involved in this season’s battle pass are sure to enjoy at least some of the cosmetics and skins.

The pool-themed cosmetics have a fun and refreshing vibe, although it is a bit odd that they have been released at the end of August when summer is coming to a close. The streetwear cosmetics have a futuristic, cyberpunk style street aesthetic which suits the chosen characters (Lucio, Pharah, Kiriko, and Tracer) perfectly, though it would have been nice for Tracer’s skin to be Legendary like the other three skins. Seeing as Tracer’s is the only streetwear skin available on the free battle pass, it’s obvious why this choice was made. That being said, it still feels a bit cash grabby to limit the Legendary streetwear skins to the premium battle pass and make Tracer’s free streetwear skin Epic.

The Chrysanthemum Hanzo and Gladiator: LXXVI Soldier: 76 skins are also pretty awesome. Although they are individually themed, they both fit in with the main themes of the battle pass, with Hanzo’s skin being somewhat summery and Soldier: 76’s Gladiator skin giving a historical street vibe.

Overall, the Overwatch 2 Season 18 battle pass rewards are pretty good, with interesting themes and aesthetics, and well-chosen heroes to represent those themes. Whether it is worth purchasing the premium battle pass is a matter of personal preference and in-game hero choices. If you aren’t going to use most of the cosmetics in the battle pass, then it’s not worth it. However, as a whole, the battle pass offers plenty of variety and cool cosmetic rewards, so it’s worth considering purchasing the premium version to unlock everything the pass has to offer.
