New leak suggests Honor is preparing to launch two super-powered Android gaming phones

When I think of Android gaming phones, I usually think of brands such as RedMagic and Asus, but there might be a new contender on the horizon. According to a new report, we could soon see the launch of the Honor GT 2 and GT 2 Pro, two new gaming-oriented devices from the Chinese brand behind the Magic 7 flagship and the ultra-thin Magic V5 foldable.

Thanks to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, we’ve got a better idea of what to expect from the Honor GT 2 series phones, and all signs point to them serving as hot competition for our current top picks for the best gaming phones. In terms of specs, the leaker suggests the GT 2 packs a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, while the GT 2 Pro utilizes the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which should make it something of a mobile performance powerhouse.

Not only are we expecting top-tier performance from the new Android gaming phone duo, but the display specs sound pretty impressive, too. According to DCS, both phones have 165Hz screens, which should offer super-smooth gameplay visuals, each with a 1.5k resolution. There are also rumors that one of the two phones could pack a mammoth 9,000mAh battery. However, we’ve seen a few devices launch with bigger batteries in China and then get smaller batteries when going global, so we’re not holding our breath just yet.
